Herm and I went to a neighborhood restaurant last night – Lakeside Sports Grill. It’s one of those comfortable little places where locals show up for a burger and a beer. The atmosphere is casual and the staff is friendly. I’d say it’s a sandwich and burger kind of place.
The menu does not ignore those who are watching their diets. It offers several selections for LSG’s health conscious customers: a grilled chicken sandwich, topped with lettuce, tomato, and onion, a garden salad with mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, and onion with your choice of chicken or steak, and a veggie wrap with an assortment of grilled and fresh vegetables, Parmesan cheese & balsamic vinaigrette.
Their signature burgers, Philly sandwiches, jalapeno poppers, and dugout wings are definite crowd pleasers.
Lakeside Sports Grill boasts five televisions – all sports all the time! We arrived around 6:00 p.m. and left around 7:00 p.m. as the band was setting up. There was a reasonable cover charge of five dollars after 8:00 p.m.
Everyone knows I don’t eat beef very often, but last night was an exception. Herman and I both ordered the LSG Burger – your basic cheese burger, except there was nothing basic about it. Okay. It had your cheese; it had your lettuce; it had your tomato, but oh, honey, that burger was charred to perfection on the outside and perfectly done on the inside, and the roll was really sumthin’ special. It was crusty on the top and soft in the middle and fresh as a baby’s bottom. Seriously, I’ve never tasted a better roll on a burger. It delivered!
If simple but delicious fare, friendly faces, and a comfortable and casual atmosphere are what you’re looking for, check out Lakeside Sports Grill.
